Thursday's films were… interesting ideas at the very least. I think my favorite film was (nostalgia) directed by Hollis Frampton. I appreciated his stories and everything that was captured in those pictures. I liked that he was able to tell each story behind each picture. Not just why that picture was taken, but the setting and the atmosphere and how that picture even came to happen. I think it was significant that he remained a picture behind the story he was telling. It required you to pay attention really well in order to remember what his current story was telling when it came time to see the next picture and what was behind it. The significance of the burning of the pictures? I'm not really sure. It could be that the burnings were used as a way to forget his past. Maybe he was suicidal and it was his final act to the world? It could just be that it was a presentation and those weren't his only developed pictures. Either way, the result of remaining a picture behind kept your attention and his stories created an intense mental image that I used to create in anticipation of what the actual picture would look like. I found it extremely interesting.
