I have to agree that last Thursday's screening was one of the hardest to sit through.
I could appreciate the emotion behind Flaming Creatures, but I could not really say I enjoyed it. At times, it became almost unbearable to watch, or hear for that matter, with the incessant screaming, and the absence of narrativity made the sexual insanity seemingly more pointless.
On the other hand, I cannot say I appreciated as much the effect of Blow Job. I mean, a few minutes of one man's face is one thing, but a half hour of brick wall and facial expressions, thats pushing it. It honestly just reached a point where it got incredibly boring for me, and I wondered why I was still watching it.
Nostalgia I have to say I enjoyed a bit more. Although the single shot where only the pictures changed was slightly redundant, I still really liked the idea and how he expressed his own nostalgia. It was very different from anything else we've seen, also the lack of continuity between the picture being seen and the one being described was an interesting technique, though I'm sitll not entirely sure why it was used.
