Whimsicality
Whimsicality is the art of being whimsical. So I definitely thought I just made that word up, but turns out it’s legit. This word came to mind after watching The Birth of the Robot. I was quite fanciful, quirky, capricious, and unusual [all synonyms for the word whimsical]. I say fanciful in the sense that you could tell so much imagination and creativity was incorporated in the creation and production of the short film. Capricious because although I thought I knew how the robot would be created, I was never quite sure, and was amazed by the weird interpretation of the creation of a metallic being from the remains of a deceased mammalian. It was super quirky to me for that reason as well, and the funny adventures of the man [whom I’ve officially name Jonas (J = h sound like in spanish)] who later on transformed into the robot. He seemed really cool and I kinda wanted to hangout with him. Lastly, this film was unusual! Since we are of the future [as compared to the people who viewed this when it first came out], we know better in terms of how things work. We know robots can’t magically appear and we know how impossible all the things the Jonas did were/are. Somehow, the unusualness of it all just kept me hooked. Then the end came and I felt like I was manipulated; but the film was so darn cool I couldn’t help but appreciate this awesome manner of advertising. We need this concept now, ‘cause commercials are generally stupid!!!
