Man and His Dog
I really liked the short film A Man and His Dog Out For Air by Robert Breer. It was interesting to me how all the lines and figures flowed into one another and everything was continuous. There were no distinctions between shapes and everything was interconnected. I also liked the interview with Breer because he seems like a pretty cool guy. He was very interested in artwork, and his film reflected this. It was like watching a cartoon without meaning that appealed to the basic human nature of the audience. The title had little to do with the film, yet the birdsong that permeated throughout the film kept drawing me back to the title. It was interesting to see how Breer did not even need real shapes in his film. The only definitive shapes were the bird, the cake, and the man and his dog. Everything else was just artwork comprised of simple lines that flowed into each other. I enjoyed how frivolous this film was.
