After Dr. Caligari, this look into Avant-garde film was rather different. Nevertheless, it was very interesting in its own way.
The shorter films, comprised mainly of different shapes and figures, though not always the most riveting, really caused me to consider what the director and screenwriter was wishing to portray. What did they want you to think and how did they want you to feel about what was going on on the screen?
Also short, I enjoyed Return to Reason quite a bit due to frantic beginning that really caught my attention and portrayed an almost lack of reason, leading me to wonder when the film would "return to reason."
Also, like many other people, I was greatly intruiged by Ghosts Before Breakfast. Although also very low on narrativity, it had a common element that created a flow to the ideas presented. The film began with the floating hats, then all the "ghostly" events that surrounded the morning of four men, and then returned to the hats landing on the four mens heads and the world returning to normal.
